Introduction
The Water Safety
Education Foundation (WSEF) is a duly incorporated society that
was established in 2002. The objective of WSEF is to
proactively manage gaming machine operations
as a means of generating revenue to fund water safety
educational initiatives.
The need for alternative
revenue sources to fund water safety education in this country has
arisen from static
or reduced funding allocations to water safety groups over the past 10
years despite increased participation and population.
If this trend
continues the impact on preventative water safety education will
include:
There can be no doubt
that New Zealand communities will suffer. Injury and death related
incidents will occur that could have been prevented. The safety
net that water safety groups provide will soon exhibit large holes that
will not be able to be repaired.
Authorised Purpose
Develop/promote new and enhance
existing water safety
education projects and programmes, in order that everyone in New
Zealand will have the water safe attitudes, skills and behaviour to
use and enjoy the environment safely.
Donations to recognised charitable organisations within the local
community to further the objectives of these groups.
